The figure treated as an artistic subject

Fine-art nude photography in my practice is built around light, shape, line, form, expression and composition. The purpose is to create a considered portrait or figure study, not to present nudity as explicit entertainment.

Light may define the edge of a pose, reduce the figure to a silhouette, build a pattern of shadow or hold attention on a small detail. Posing is deliberate because the relationship between the body and the frame is central to the image.

How it differs from boudoir

Boudoir usually begins with an intimate, personal portrait and may use clothing, lingerie, setting and expression to create its mood. Fine-art nude work begins more directly with the figure as form. The two can overlap, so I discuss the intention with you rather than forcing your idea into a label.

Guided posing and clear boundaries

You do not need previous modelling experience. I explain and guide each pose, including small adjustments to balance, line and expression. Before photographing, I discuss the images you want, what you do not want and the level of nudity you are comfortable with. You can stop or change an idea during the session.

Privacy and publication

Your images remain private unless you give explicit permission for a particular use. Declining publication does not change the service or the images you receive.

The current Terms & Conditions require fine-art nude participants to be over 25. Valid photo identification may be requested.

What happens afterwards

Current editing guidance is one to three weeks. I arrange a viewing for you to select the photographs included in your package. Colour and black-and-white versions are included in the current packages.
